Is Roman Reigns Set to Miss Major WWE Universal Championship Event in 2024

Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, a dominant force in the pro wrestling business, appears to be on course to miss another major WWE event in 2024. Infamous for his low-profile presence on WWE television in 2023, Reigns, who defended his title on only five occasions whilst wrestling in a mere seven television matches, has been the focus of fan frustration.

Observing Reigns’ over three-year title reign, there’s speculation that his pared-down schedule will extend into the next year, leading to rumours of his absence from significant events.

One such event raising eyebrows among the WWE fandom is the 2024 WWE Premium Live Event (PLE), dubbed “Bash in Berlin,” slated for August 31st. Strikingly, Reigns’ name is absent from the promotional material for this premier gathering in the heart of Germany, causing further ripples of speculation.

No definitive information has confirmed Reigns’ potential no-show for the Berlin event or the preceding SmackDown on August 30, even as tickets go on sale on November 30. With Reigns’ popularity soaring, it seems logical that his presence would undoubtedly act as a major selling point for WWE events.

Interestingly, stars featured on the promotional posters for SmackDown include wrestling powerhouses such as Charlotte Flair, Bobby Lashley, Kevin Owens, Rey Mysterio, LA Knight, and Jimmy Uso from The Bloodline. Meanwhile, the Bash in Berlin is set to showcase talents like Bianca Belair, Rhea Ripley, Drew McIntyre, GUNTHER, Seth Rollins, and Cody Rhodes, the expected rival for Reigns at WrestleMania 40.

Expectations are rife about Rhodes possibly challenging Reigns for his title. The event may feature both reigning world champions if Rhodes does indeed manage to usurp Reigns from his throne. But at present, fans and followers can only wait and watch.

Keep an eye out for further updates on Reigns’ 2024 schedule and potential absence from major events. For the latest WWE news, delight in the full match coverage at the WrestleTalk Survivor Series Watch Party at London’s Long Arm Sports Pub.
