LA Knight And WWE Are Far Apart On Money, New Deal Unsigned

LA Knight and the WWE officials have reportedly been in talks about a new long-term deal with the company that is said to either be close to being finalized or has already been finalized and word is that the contract extension is for five years. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Knight is expected to get a massive push going forward due to the huge ratings his segments have been receiving on WWE TV as well as the strong merchandise sales he has had.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that Knight and the company have been in talks, but the two sides are far apart on money and no deal has been agreed to, and doesn’t appear imminent, but they’ll keep negotiating. The report also states that one higher-up in the WWE revealed there’s no truth to Knight’s massive push being tied to a new deal and cited various wrestlers who have deals expiring next year and are still getting pushes, but Knight’s current deal with the WWE still has a year and a half left on it.

As previously reported, Knight is currently slotted as the top babyface on the SmackDown brand, which means he could be receiving a championship opportunity sooner rather than later. Knight’s massive push is in full swing after defeating The Miz in a Singles Match at the 2023 WWE Payback Premium Live Event, with 16-time World Champion John Cena as the special guest referee as after the match, Knight got a big endorsement from Cena and this was reportedly a strategic move as Cena would not endorse Knight if he didn’t believe in what the WWE sees in him and is planning to do with him.
