Reigning Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns is considered by many as one of the greatest, if not the greatest WWE Superstar in the modern era, possibly even of all time. Reigns became the WWE Universal Champion at the WWE Payback Event in August 2020 and has held on to the title since. Reigns would then go on to become the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion and hold on to both championships at last year’s WrestleMania 38, when he defeated then-WWE Champion “The Beast Incarnate” Brock Lesnar in what was dubbed as “The Greatest WrestleMania Match Of All Time.”
Roman has held the Undisputed WWE Universal Title for over 1,187 days, which is something that hasn’t been done since 1988 and a title reign that is recognized as the fifth-longest reign in the company’s history. Reigns’ title reign has lasted longer than WWE legend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s 16 World Title reigns for a combined 1004 days.
Roman has been working a much more reduced schedule since signing a new WWE contract back in 2022 and it was reported a number of days ago that The Tribal Chief was not booked to compete at last Saturday night’s WWE Survivor Series: WarGames Event from Chicago as the belief was he would remain off of WWE TV for the rest of the year and be back on television at the very beginning of next year to start the build of the 2024 Royal Rumble Event on Saturday, January 27 from Tropicana Field in Tampa, Florida.
WWE recently announced, via their official Twitter (X) account, that current Undisputed WWE Universal Champion “The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns is set to appear on the December 15th episode of Friday Night SmackDown from Green Bay, WI, the January 5th, 2024 episode of Friday Night SmackDown from Vancouver, BC and the January 19th, 2024 episode of Friday Night SmackDown from Atlanta, GA. It is possible that Reigns will be announced for more shows in early 2024.
Roman Reigns last competed for WWE at their Crown Jewel Event last month, where he defeated LA Knight to retain his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. This show marked his first televised match since SummerSlam as Reigns didn’t work Payback and Fastlane.
