Sasha Banks Wanted A WWE Contract Similar To Becky Lynch And Charlotte Flair

One of pro wrestling and the WWE’s biggest star in Sasha Banks walked out of the company prior to the May 16 episode of WWE RAW due to frustration over creative, revealing that she and Naomi did not feel respected as a team and that they even felt unsafe working with specific WWE Superstars inside of the squared circle. Sasha Banks and Naomi were then stripped of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles and their profiles were even removed from the official WWE roster page and they were also removed from WWE’s TV intro videos. Banks and Naomi would even remove the WWE from their Instagram profiles and Naomi would also remove WWE from her Twitter bio.

Triple H took over the WWE’s creative several months back and since then a lot of significant changes have happened such as several former WWE Stars being brought back, but there were also rumblings of a potential return for Sasha Banks. Dave Meltzer mentioned on the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that the WWE was in contract talks with Sasha and last he heard there were some money issues and that both sides were very far apart on agreeing to a new deal. Dave Meltzer reported on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the contract talks Banks had with the WWE was close to a done deal and the only thing that was holding up the deal was the financial side of things as Banks was seeking a WWE contract similar to the levels of Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair and the former multi-time WWE Women’s Champion wasn’t offered anything close to that. WWE sources have noted that Sasha Banks isn’t somebody the WWE officials see internally as a Superstar who could be on top for the next five years, but as someone who could get a Singles or Tag Team Title run and someone that if she was to return to the WWE, there would be a “honeymoon” period where people would go nuts for her.

As previously reported, Sasha is set to make an appearance at NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom 17 on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 from inside the legendary Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan and it is believed that Banks is officially done with the WWE as she negotiated her exit from the company “months ago.” Banks was said to have reached a deal with the WWE this past summer where they agreed to release her as a free agent instead of freezing her contract, but she is unable do anything with pro wrestling until the start of 2023.
