“Switchblade” Jay White To Be A Free Agent, WWE And AEW Interested

According to Fightful Select, NJPW Star “Switchblade” Jay White’s contract with the company is set to expire relatively soon and he is expected to leave the promotion immediately after. It was also noted on the report that both WWE and AEW are interested in signing him and sources within the WWE are even confident that they would somehow land him.

Until Jay White’s NJPW contract officially expires, both AEW and the WWE can’t legally talk with him, but there is always the possibility that White and NJPW reaches some sort of an agreement on a brand-new deal. WWE has heavily attempted to bring Jay White into the company in the past and White himself revealed to Fightful that it happened in early 2021 and talks have only accelerated since.

There were reports in the past that Switchblade was under contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling until 2025 and that AEW was interested in bringing him in, but White has denied those claims. White will be facing Hikuleo in a “Loser Leaves Japan” Match on Saturday, February 11th and Hikuleo is someone else that the WWE is interested in bringing in.
