Immediately following CM Punk’s shocking return to the WWE at Survivor Series: WarGames from Chicago, the WWE Universe as well as the entire pro wrestling industry has been imagining and coming up with a list of dream matches for The Best In The World and on top of that long list is WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins and Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
Sports Illustrated noted a few days back that the direction WWE is headed will see a massive showdown take place between Undisputed WWE Universal Champion “The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk, but before that happens, CM Punk will most likely be facing WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins in the near future. Rollins flipping Punk off at Survivor Series: WarGames and cursing at him is part of the build and storyline to their eventual match and Rollins even continued with their feud and storyline at a house show the following night and even noted in his promo on Monday Night RAW two nights later that he wouldn’t waste his time on Punk.
Dave Meltzer noted on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that it will take a while before a match between Reigns and Punk happens as there are a lot of things the WWE must do first and take into account. Meltzer also noted that once the match does happen it will be huge and there are a number of things WWE is considering for the build up to the match and the storyline including Special Counsel “The Wiseman” Paul Heyman leaving Reigns for Punk and Punk turning heel, while Reigns turning face and many more. Meltzer then noted that right now the matches being talked about for WrestleMania 40 are Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins vs. CM Punk.
