The main event of All Elite Wrestling’s Full Gear PPV saw MJF defeat Jon Moxley to become the new AEW World Champion, thanks to an assist from William Regal, who handed MJF his gold brass knuckles to use against The Blackpool Combat Club’s Jon Moxley. A recent episode of AEW Dynamite then saw the new AEW World Champion MJF address the fans and brutally attack William Regal with the same brass knuckles as a way to write him off of AEW TV as there have been reports that Regal is on his way out of All Elite Wrestling and that he is expected to return to the WWE soon, which comes after Jon told William Regal to never show his face in AEW again.
PWInsider.com reported that William Regal is finalizing his deal with the WWE and it is expected that he will officially start with the company after the New Year. It was also revealed on the report that Regal is expected to be working in a behind-the-scenes capacity and that the company could use him in other ways such as for WarGames announcements if he does make an appearance on WWE TV again. A recent report from PWInsider.com stated that William Regal has come to terms with WWE and he will officially start during the first week of January and that he will have a Vice President position.
Prior to being released by the WWE last January, William Regal worked as the General Manger of NXT as well as a talent scout for the company and he was even considered to be WWE Chief Content Officer and Head of Creative Triple H’s right-hand man while running NXT creative. AEW President Tony Khan stated during ROH’s Final Battle media scrum that Regal asked All Elite Wrestling to not renew his deal with the promotion so that he could make his return to the WWE to be in WWE NXT with his son, who competes as Charles Dempsey.
