WWE Changing The Personas Of Wrestlers Who Were Miscast

Vince McMahon recently retired from the WWE and Triple H has since been placed in charge of the WWE’s creative. Prior to Vince McMahon retiring, not only was he in charge of the creative for WWE’s Monday Night RAW and WWE’s Friday Night SmackDown, but he also had the final say on WWE’s NXT. Katana Chance and Kayden Carter are perfect examples of wrestlers being booked in a character they don’t seem to be a fit for as they were recently booked as heels after being unsuccessful in capturing the NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles.

Last Tuesday night’s episode of WWE NXT 2.0 saw a Fatal 4-way Tag Team Elimination Match to determine the new NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions after Cora Jade threw her championship in the trash and it was announced that the titles were vacant and new champions will be crowned. Chance and Carter became the new NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions and cut a babyface promo immediately following the match. Now that Triple H is in charge of creative, this was surely his call and he turned them back to babyfaces from their heel personas, which comes after Becky Lynch was turned to a babyface as well.

Dave Meltzer noted on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that WWE NXT wrestlers as well as other talents who were miscast are now being corrected, meaning wrestlers who are supposed to be babyfaces but heels are now being turned back to babyfaces and wrestlers who are supposed to be heels but are babyfaces are now being turned back to heels.

This is what Dave Meltzer said:

“A lot of people who were miscast, and in this case, let’s face it, Kacy Catanzaro, she should not be cast as a heel. She is a babyface. They were getting ready to miscast her, and now they’re casting her where she should be, just like Becky Lynch.”
