WWE Has Taken Steps To Avoid Backstage Issues With CM Punk

As previously reported, CM Punk appered on WWE RAW this past Monday night for the first time in about 10 years to address the WWE Universe following his shocking return to the company last Saturday night at Survivor Series: WarGames from Chicago. During the promo, Punk said his reception backstage in WWE was all love and everybody in the back was happy to see him and that it was like a family reunion. It was also mentioned that CM Punk even went out of his way to spend time with fans at the ringside area before returning to the back and he was on his best behavior and was at the ringside area for so long that most of the fans have already left the arena by the time he got to the back.

According to Fightful Select, a few people in the company were told by the higher-ups that Punk’s WWE contract has a behavior clause due to the events that transpired between CM Punk and the WWE the last time he worked there and the reported events that happened backstage in AEW. It was also noted on the report that Punk had no issues in regards to his promo segment being cut short because of time issues and not taking shots at AEW during his promo.

Several people were surprised with Punk’s RAW promo, especially the line about how he is home and how he is a changed person as the fans expected him to cut a heel promo if he will be facing Seth Rollins heading into WrestleMania 40. It is still possible that Punk will turn heel heading into WrestleMania as Rollins is a babyface, but he knew how people would take his promo, so it is interesting to see if things change from a storyline perspective on Punk’s character.
