WWE Made History With Last Saturday Night’s Payback Event

WWE held their 2023 Payback Premium Live Event this past Saturday from inside the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins putting his WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Shinsuke Nakamura in the main event. WWE’s Payback Event last Saturday night also saw LA Knight beat The Miz in a one-on-one match, with 16-time World Champion John Cena as the special guest referee, “Main Event” Jey Uso make his return to WWE TV and be announced as the newest member of the Monday Night RAW locker room and The Judgment Day’s Finn Balor and “Senior Money In The Bank” Damian Priest defeat Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn to become the new Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions.

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, last Saturday’s WWE Payback Premium Live Event is the highest-grossing event the company has had in the history of Pittsburgh based on internal reports. WWE has been setting Premium Live Event records over the past number of months and that trend could continue on their next Premium Live Event known as Fastlane, which is set to take place on Saturday, October 7th from the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
