WWE’s 2024 Elimination Chamber Event Set for Perth, Australia, Amid Contract Updates for Sheamus and IYO SKY

In exciting global wrestling news, WWE has announced the return to envelope-pushing venues and key contract updates for flagship talent.

Firstly, the much-anticipated Elimination Chamber event, officially named Elimination Chamber Perth, is slated for February 24, 2024 at the majestic Optus Stadium in Perth, Australia. This makes it the first WWE large scale show Down Under since 2018.

WWE, in collaboration with the Western Australian Government through Tourism Western Australia, is excited to bring its wrestling universe to the Asia-Pacific region. The city of Perth, renowned for its ability to host grand sporting and cultural events, brings with it the promise of a thrilling Elimination Chamber spectacle.

WWE Senior Vice President Chris Legentil expressed his excitement over the venue, calling Perth the ideal location for a major WWE premium live event. Echoing his sentiments was Western Australia’s Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism, the Hon. Rita Saffioti MLA, who highlighted the global exposure and tourism potential that the event will undoubtedly bring.

On the home front, WWE Women’s World Champion and Australian native Rhea Ripley conveyed her joy at this unprecedented hosting opportunity. Describing her excitement at representing her home country, she made it clear she’s ready to make a lasting memory for the WWE Universe.

Meanwhile, on the contract front, credible sources report that Sheamus’ WWE contract is scheduled to expire in 2024. This coincides with the term-end of other prominent WWE talents, including Becky Lynch and Drew McIntyre. The rumored expiry in either Q1 or H1 2024 hasn’t been confirmed, and there is speculation that the contract could see an extension.

Furthermore, female wrestling sensation IYO SKY, in an interview with Tokyo Sports, revealed her WWE contract was initially planned to end one month post SummerSlam 2022. Nonetheless, her drive to ascend the industry ladder led her to the WWE Women’s Championship victory at SummerSlam 2023.

With an upcoming title match against Asuka and a zestful journey progressing at Usain Bolt’s speed, IYO SKY’s eyes are firmly set on retaining her championship.
