Many thought the main event between Moxley and Omega would have taken place in February at the AEW Revolution pay-per-view. Khan and others in AEW realized that last year ratings took a dip in November and December, so they want to go big this year.
WWE NXT is not planning on any major counter-programming against AEW this week. So it appears, for the first time in AEW Dynamite history, they could take a page out of WWE’s playbook and go over their allotted end time. WWE has done overruns before as a way to boost viewership.
Fans will tune into AEW Dynamite to watch the program following the NXT show, which could mean a huge bump in ratings.
AEW President Tony Khan, during a media conference call today, mentioned that TNT had told AEW that they are willing to go over the planned two-hour window this week.
Tony Khan said TNT is willing to stay with the Moxley Omega match past 10 PM EST if necessary
