AEW Star Serena Deeb Reportedly Working Through An Injury

It was previously reported that the first round of AEW’s Women’s Title Eliminator Tournament Japanese side of the bracket recently took place with four gargantuan matches, with Yuka Sakazaki, Emi Sakura, Ryo Mizunami and Aja Kong advancing in the second round. Aja Kong is now set to fight Ryo Mizunami in the second round.

On the U.S. side of the bracket, Thunder Rosa beat Leyla Hirsch in a First Round Match on last week’s Dynamite, while Riho beat NWA Women’s World Champion Serena Deeb during this past Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite also in a First Round Match. Thunder Rosa and Riho will now battle each other in a Second Round Matchup.

Dave Meltzer noted on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that it seems AEW Star Serena Deeb worked the match while dealing with a bad knee.

Meltzer also revealed that he thought the match was so good and it was better than he expected. Meltzer then noted Serena was really limited as she was dealing with the bad knee, so they really just had to wrestle, but they both wrestled so well and they both impressed everyone.

This is what Dave Meltzer said:

“I thought this match was so good. It was so much better…like I expected a good match, but it was better than I expected. Serena Deeb’s got a bad knee so she was really limited so they really just had to wrestle, but they both wrestled so well, like both of them in and out of moves and everything. It was just a technical wrestling match, I think they both impressed everyone. I saw everyone after the match raving about the match.”
