AEW’s flagship show, Dynamite, usually takes place on a Wednesday night, but Dave Meltzer noted on an episode of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the Dynamite episode prior to the Double Or Nothing PPV Event set to take place this Sunday will be taking place this Friday night instead of the regular schedule of Wednesday nights due to the NBA Playoffs, which means that AEW Dynamite this week will be going head-to-head with WWE SmackDown since Friday nights are when SmackDown regularly airs.
Meltzer also revealed on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the post-Double or Nothing episode of Dynamite will not air on its regular schedule of Wednesday nights either, and that pending a decision by TNT, the show would either air on a Friday or a Saturday.
In an update, it was announced that the schedule of the post-Double or Nothing episode of Dynamite is set to take place on Friday, June 4th at 10PM ET, which will be the second straight week for Dynamite to be moved to a Friday night, but unlike this week, AEW Dynamite will not be going head-to-head with WWE Friday Night SmackDown on FOX.
As of this writing, the schedules of all Dynamite episodes past the June 4th episode is still unknown as it all depends on the NBA Playoffs schedule. As previously reported, AEW Dynamite will move to TBS in January 2022 to avoid preemptions from the NHL and the NBA games on TNT.
