Alan Angels Says He Would Have Loved More TV Time In AEW—Participants For Ric Flair’s Last Match Finally Revealed

The Dark Order has been a fan favorite stable or faction for quite some time. The faction debuted at the first ever AEW Double or Nothing PPV…Stu Grayson and Evil Uno its first members. It was a slow build from then on, but a build nonetheless and the stable came to have a very powerful leader the following year in Brodie Lee.

The momentum built from then on…Lee winning the TNT championship from Cody Rhodes, but sadly Lee passed away in 2020. Despite some epic matches by all members and great performances by all on the microphone as well, it has been after Lee’s passing that week after week, the Dark Order has been less present on TV…something that has chagrined the fans and some of the faction’s members.

Many wrestlers have left the company…Stu Grayson and Alan Angels in particular. It was Angels who recently sat down with Two Man Power Trip Of Wrestling Podcast, and he went into the Dark Order and how of course it would have been nice to be on TV more. Here’s some of what he had to say:

“We all would’ve loved to be on TV more, and I hope the guys that are still there, you know, get more TV time and such…We were definitely given plenty of opportunities to shine on TV and on Dark and stuff like that. Like, the fact that they wrestled The Elite multiple times, I got to wrestle Bryan, I got to wrestle Kenny, like, that’s all great…

So, definitely, we’re all super, super grateful…It’s supposed to be a group of outcasts that are brought in to better their lives and enrich their lives, as Brodie would say…It’s a cult without saying it’s a cult if that makes sense … A group of friends is kind of what I think the gimmick ended up being.”

In the end, I’d agree. If you’ll bear with me as I editorialize for a brief moment, the entirety of the Dark Order is a fountain of experience that needs to be tapped but is sadly wasted right now by AEW. AEW is doing well, yes, but in some departments they are failing, and this is certainly one of those departments.

In the Dark Order, both past and present members, you have an elite group of performers that worked the indies for a long time and can only add to the AEW product, but unfortunately they’re not getting the TV time they need and deserve. If Tony Khan and company want to differentiate themselves from WWE, who is perhaps the king of kings when it comes to mismanaging talent, then they need to look at their entire roster and let talented people shine.

Participants in Ric Flair’s Last Match Finally revealed—builds epic momentum after parking lot incident after press conference

Ric Flair’s last match is so big that they had to move the venue to facilitate just how many people want to see the show. If that’s not enough to convince you of how huge this is, then how about this: The mayor of Nashville officially made July 31st—the day of the match—and to be considered from this day, Ric Flair Day!

For months people have been speculating just who the 73 year old’s last opponent would be. Well, these questions have been answered finally and the answers are surprising. Well, one more than the others.

Jay lethal will be one opponent. That’s not much of a surprise for people following this story, because Lethal has been training Flair for the match…they’ve been working and running the ropes for months.

Andrade also is not a surprise; he’s of course Ric’s son in law. But the huge surprise here is of course Jeff Jarrett, who is under contract with WWE and works backstage for live events for the company.

Not only that, he’s also going to be the special guest referee the night before at SummerSlam in the match between the Street Profits and the Usos for the undisputed tag team championships! This can happen because he doesn’t have a contract that lists him as talent with WWE, and this is why he can perform for other promotions at will, according to a piece at Wrestling Inc..

The match should be a special one and after an incredible news conference and heated segment following the conference when Lethal and Jarrett attacked Flair and bloodied him in the parking lot, the anticipation for this match is through the roof.
