Backstage News On The Status Of Chris Jericho With NJPW

Top AEW Star “The Demo God” “Le Champion” Chris Jericho‘s last appearance for New Japan Pro Wrestling was at Wrestling Kingdom 14, in which he defeated top NJPW Star Hiroshi Tanahashi.

It was reported on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that the only reason Jericho hasn’t made his return to NJPW is due to the travel restrictions brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Demo God did have his NJPW contract expire at some point and he is not expected to appear at January’s Wrestle Kingdom 15 Event.

Reports also indicate that former NJPW President Harold Meij was not looking at bringing Jericho back due to the large amount of money in his contact, but now that Harold is no longer associated with New Japan Pro Wrestling and has been replaced by Takami Ohbari, there seems to be renewed interest within the company to bring Jericho back for a match sometime in 2021.

Dave Meltzer speculated that NJPW’s Dominion Event is when “Le Champion” Chris Jericho will likely be brought back to the company since it is typically NJPW’s second biggest show of the year and it takes place sometime in June or July.

There was also mention of Chris Jericho still having NJPW appearances left on his most recent contract, but it has been something that is impossible for him to fulfill due to the travel restrictions brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
