The opening segment of last week’s AEW Dynamite saw CM Punk make his way down to the ring and address the AEW fans after his return to AEW TV this previous week from an injury. Before addressing reigning Undisputed AEW World Champion Jon Moxley and building towards their Title Unification Matchup on last night’s AEW Dynamite episode, CM Punk called out “Hangman” Adam Page to face him in a rematch for the AEW World Championship and Punk would even have some harsh remarks for the former AEW World Champion.
Hangman Page did not make his way down to the ring and that would lead to Punk saying, “My sentiments exactly. Now onto the important things. That’s not cowboy shit, that’s coward shit.” Punk then spoke about Undisputed AEW World Champion Jon Moxley and their match was made official for last night’s AEW Dynamite episode after a brawl ensued between the two. The former AEW World Champion went to business for himself as he is reportedly unhappy with the company, but while speaking with Sports Illustrated, Punk addressed those rumors and said to not put too much stock in internet rumors and he loves AEW as they gave him a second chance to do what he does best and that is professionally wrestle.
This is what CM Punk said:
“You try not to put too much stock in internet rumors. But for AEW, I definitely think that’s part of our audience. Twitter’s not real life, though. On top of that, a lie makes its way around the world twice before the truth puts his boots on or gets out of bed. If I addressed every rumor, I’d be here all day. I love AEW. It’s not a competition of who loves it more or who’s the heart and soul, or who’s this and who’s that. AEW allowed me a second chance to do what I do best, and that’s professionally wrestle.”
CM Punk also talked about how internet reports is only one side of the story and how he’s an adult so if anyone wants to talk to him about it they can as his locker room is never closed.
This is what CM Punk said:
“It’s one side of the story.” “My locker room is never closed. It’s always open. Anybody who wants to DM [Dave] Meltzer some bulls— can come talk to me about it. It’s not macho, stupid bulls—. I’m an adult. Come talk with me.”
CM Punk then spoke about reports saying he went off script during his promo on last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. Punk said that is what he is in AEW to do and that is to sell tickets, tell stories and get people to tune in to AEW Dynamite.
This is what CM Punk said:
“That’s what I’m here to do, make people want to see what happens next.” “I’m trying to sell tickets to the live events. That goes back to me saying Twitter isn’t [the] real world. Twitter is a bunch of people that don’t really care about your opinion. They want to find like-minded opinions that share their worldview. I’m trying to tell stories, sell tickets, and get people to tune in on Dynamite.”
