Cody Files Trademark To His WWE Ring Name ‘Cody Rhodes’

All Elite Wrestling’s EVP Cody has been going by that singular name since leaving WWE in 2016. Cody has refrained from using his last name Rhodes for fear of legal action by the WWE. In AEW, he is announced as Cody, but that could change soon.

WWE’s trademark on ‘Cody Rhodes’ expired back on October 13th, 2019, and the WWE failed to reapply during the six-month grace period. This has allowed Cody to pick up the trademark on April 13th, 2020.

Cody applied to use the name for merchandise purposes but also inside the ring, which would suggest that hearing him referend to as “Cody Rhodes” could debut soon in AEW.

Here is the Trademark information;
