When Sting surprised wrestling fans around the world with his arrival at AEW many fans started to debate how likely it was that we would see Sting compete in a wrestling ring again.
This was speculated about for a while until it was announced that he will team up with Darby Allin against Brian Cage and Ricky Starks at AEW Revolution. Cody Rhodes would appear to be just like the rest of us as he also can’t wait for this match to take place.
Rhodes did an interview recently with the New York Post where he discussed many subjects about his life and his time with AEW. During this, he spoke about his admiration for Sting and how he would love to compete with him, even admitting that he is pretty sure that Sting realizes his desire.
“To me, the cinematic matches, they really don’t have a current definition” Cody began. “I’ve seen the Stadium Stampede and I’ve seen the [WWE] Boneyard [match]. I’ve seen various different ways to present cinematic. And really cinematic just means with different camera cuts.”
“It can mean a lot of things” Cody Rhodes continued. “But ask me that question again in a few months; because I want the opportunity to stand across from the Stinger and I think he knows that. It’s almost kind of itching at me under my skin that if there is somebody I wanted to beat? It’s the face of TNT’s hottest period and run.”
There is no real guessing as to how many more times we will Sting compete in the wrestling ring. A lot will have to do with how well his body holds up from this bout and how well received the fight is from the fans. If he’s anything like the Sting we have known then no doubt there will be more call to see him compete in the ring again.
