Jon Moxley Issues Statement From Wrestle Kingdom 15

Former AEW champion Jon Moxley made a surprise video appearance at today’s Wrestle Kingdom 15 event by New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Moxley, the current IWGP United States champion, appeared in a pre-recorded segment before the match between KENTA and Satoshi Kojima for the rights to challenge for the IWGP belt at a later date.

The promo saw Moxley issue a warning to the future IWGP US challenger from the NJPW dojo in the US.

“Many men have vied for that US title contract, but they all thought they were gonna get off easy. They all hoped and prayed that the United States Heavyweight Champion would never return. But I am the boogeyman in New Japan Pro Wrestling. I will get you eventually. So whoever walks out of the Tokyo Dome with that contract, make no mistake about it, I’m coming for you.”

Moxley has been the IWGP US champion for a record-breaking 365 days, but has only defended his title twice during his reign. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Moxley has been away from NJPW since February 2020.

KENTA won the match and continues to be the number one contender for Moxley’s championship. He has continually taunted Moxley over social media for the past few months, setting up their eventual feud when Moxley is able to return to Japan.

Due to contractual obligations with AEW, Moxley is unable to defend the IWGP US title in the United States, despite NJPW running multiple shows overseas in recent months.
