Latest Details On AEW’s Eight-man Tournament

In September, All Elite Wrestling announced their eight-man tournament. The winner will become the # 1 contender for the AEW World Championship. The title is currently held by Jon Moxley. He will defend the title against Lance Archer on this week’s AEW Dynamite.

Since the announcement of the tournament, there have been limited details provided by AEW aside from stars working it and the finals taking place at AEW Full Gear in November.

So far, Hangman Page, Wardlow, Colt Cabana, Kenny Omega, Rey Fenix, and Jungle Boy have been announced.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that, as of right now, plans are for four quarterfinal matches to take place on the October 21st episode of AEW Dynamite. Then two semifinal matches for the October 28th AEW Dynamite. This timeframe will give AEW about a week-and-a-half to promote the finals.

Meltzer added that the schedule is tentative.

“is not etched in stone but was the plan at press time.”

All Elite Wrestling’s Full Gear pay-per-view event takes place on Saturday, November 7th, 2020, from Jacksonville, Florida, at Daily’s Place.
