MJF Injured During His AEW Full Gear Match With Jay White

This past Saturday night’s AEW Full Gear Event saw AEW World Champion and ROH World Tag Team Champion MJF compete on the Zero Hour Pre-Show, when he teamed up with Samoa Joe (Adam Cole’s replacement) and defended the ROH World Tag Team Championships against The Gunns (Austin Gunn and Colten Gunn). Austin Gunn and Colten Gunn came up short and brutally attacked MJF immediately after the match, which would result in the AEW World Champion being rushed to the hospital.

MJF was scheduled to compete in his second match of the night by defending his AEW World Championship against “Switchblade” Jay White in the main event, but MJF was not medically cleared to compete. Adam Cole would instead step in and take MJF’s place in the AEW World Title Match to also prevent Jay from winning the match and the championship via forfeit.

Prior to the match getting underway, MJF showed up and still managed to compete and even ended up the winner after he hit White with the diamond ring. According to WrestlePurists, MJF hurt his hip in the match and needed it to be popped back in after the show. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select would also confirm the hip injury on his official Twitter (X) account. It was also mentioned that the reigning AEW World Champion MJF may have banged up his shoulder, but the good news is he won’t be missing any television time, although he will be staying out of the ring while he heals up.
