New Details Regarding Santana’s Injury From Blood & Guts

All Elite Wrestling has been having their top stars suffering an injury and being placed on the shelf for the past several months and that includes AEW World Champion CM Punk and Bryan Danielson. Santana is the latest to suffer an injury and be put on the sidelines as during the Blood & Guts AEW Dynamite episode, the former Inner Circle member hurt his left knee just minutes after entering the brutal and viscous Blood & Guts Matchup and he would apparently blow out his knee as well. Santana’s unfortunate injury would take place while he was looking to hit his opponent with a uranage, but his knee buckled and he would fall under his own weight.

Top AEW Star and professional wrestling legend Chris Jericho then appeared on the Geordie podcast and provided an update on how long Santana is expected to be out of in-ring action. Jericho revealed that Santana screwed up his knee by doing a uranage/rock bottom maneuver and that will result in him being out of in-ring action for the next 8 months.

Fightful Select recently reported that Santana’s ACL, which is the ligament in the center of his knee preventing the shin bone from rubbing against the thigh bone, has been injured and the timeline which Jericho provided of Santana being out of in-ring action for 8 months could end up going as long as 12 months. The report also mentions that Santana has told several people about this and he would even go to an event in Puerto Rico this past weekend and relinquish a championship at a home promotion, while walking with crutches and Santana even revealed to the fans in Puerto Rico that he has yet to undergo surgery. Neither has All Elite Wrestling nor Santana confirm any of the details provided, but sources close to the situation has revealed that everything that was said is accurate.

AEW will continue booking Santana’s long-time tag team partner Ortiz to compete in Singles action and there have been rumors that the two have not been on great terms as of late, which is reportedly true and that is the reason why Santana and Ortiz have not competed in a regular tag team match in months. This is reportedly also the reason why Santana has been booked to compete in Singles action lately as well as why he had been accepting booking as a Singles wrestler on the independent scene prior to him suffering an injury.
