News On Cody Rhodes’ Injury, Can He Challenge For AEW Title

This past Saturday night’s AEW Full Gear PPV Event was not for the faint of heart as there were several instances and spots that were done rather barbarically and brutally.

One of those instances was when “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes suffered a nasty cut above his eye that nearly ended his AEW World Title Match against AEW World Champion Chris Jericho. This was due to Cody landing awkwardly on his head and hitting the steel rampway when performing a dive to the outside.

The match saw AEW World Champion Chris Jericho retain his AEW World Title, but not due to Cody’s nasty cut above his eye, rather it was due to Cody’s cornerman, MJF, throwing in the towel, which put a stop to the match. After the match, MJF then turned heel and kicked Cody right between his legs.

The stipulation of the match is that if Cody Rhodes doesn’t win, then he will never get to challenge for the AEW World Title again. Based on this stipulation, despite MJF’s role in the match and Cody Rhodes’ unclear future at the time, it was reported on PWInsider.com that he will not be allowed to challenge for the AEW World Title for the time being.

More information and updates will be provided on Cody Rhodes’ injury, status and storyline once it is made available.
