Reason Why Maki Itoh Was Not Advertised For AEW Revolution

The Buy In Pre-Show of last Sunday’s Revolution PPV saw a Women’s Division Tag Team Match take place. The match was supposed to feature Dr. Britt Baker and Rebel vs. Thunder Rosa and Riho, but before the match took place, it would be announced that Rebel will not be able to compete after an attack at the hands of Nyla Rose.

Tokyo Joshi Pro Star Maki Itoh would end up being the new tag partner of Britt Baker and they won the match. Dave Meltzer noted on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program why Maki Itoh’s appearance was not advertised prior to AEW Revolution. According to Dave Meltzer, Maki Itoh fought in TJPW’s Princess Max Heart Tournament Final, then made the trip from Japan to the U.S.

Dave also noted that due to the short timing, a flight delay or any other delay was possible and that would have out a stop to Maki Itoh’s appearance at Revolution, which is why when she was able to make the show, an injury angle as well as a mystery partner angle was done prior to the PPV. After the AEW Women’s Title match, Maki Itoh joined Britt Baker and Nyla Rose in a huge brawl. A Six-Women Tag Team Match has since been announced to take place this week on Dynamite featuring these names.
