Tony Khan Provides An Update On Kenny Omega’s Injuries

“The Cleaner” Kenny Omega is recognized as one of, if not the greatest pro wrestler in the modern era and possibly even of all time. He has won championship gold in every promotion he has competed in and he was even one of the first signees in AEW as well as one of the most dominant World Champion in the history of All Elite Wrestling. Kenny Omega last competed for AEW at the Full Gear PPV Event, when he lost the AEW World Title to “Hangman” Adam Page and he has since been out of in-ring action as he has injuries that needs to be surgically repaired.

AEW President and CEO Tony Khan recently spoke with PWInsider.com, where he said he personally misses Kenny Omega and he is definitely one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and a dominant champion in AEW for almost a year, but he is currently healing from a bunch of significant injuries, which he had some of the best matches in the history of the company with, despite wanting to compete with them. He also said Omega made his matches great even though he was experiencing unbearable pain, but now it is time for Omega to rehabilitate and heal, so that he can come back stronger and better than ever. Tony Khan then said Omega was absolutely the wrestler of the year for 2021 and the AEW CEO is very excited for Omega to make his return this 2022 as it will be a long time coming.

This is what Tony Khan said:

“We miss Kenny Omega greatly.” “He’s one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and was a dominant champion in AEW for almost a year. And I personally miss Kenny Omega being around very much. He’s healing from a bunch of injuries, significant injuries. And he wrestled through all of that and had some of the best matches in the history of the company while he was really beat up.”

“He really cares a lot about wrestling and he worked his ass off to fill up and make his matches great even when he was in a ton of pain and could barely get through it. Now it’s time for him to rehabilitate and heal and he’s going to come back stronger, and come back, I hope as good or even better than ever. I really believe the stuff he did while he was physically limited was so impressive. I think he was absolutely the wrestler of the year for 2021. And I’m very excited for Kenny Omega’s return in 2022. It’ll be a long time coming and we’d be excited to have him back.”

Tony Khan also talked about how Kenny Omega came into the company already with the major injuries and he had to work a really hard schedule and he was doing really grueling matches every week and he even put himself out there for the fans during the pandemic. Tony Khan then talked about how he never took any time off and how he never missed a show for a long time and how it was kind of bizarre when Omega wasn’t there, but even though how physically beaten up he was, mentally he was still able to do great matches during his title reign.

This is what Tony Khan said:

“He was coming in with major injuries and then he worked a really hard schedule here in AEW too. Even though we don’t wrestle every day, it’s really for the average wrestler. I think it is the best schedule you could get coming in once a week.” “He was doing really grueling matches every week. And he put himself out there for the fans and then through the pandemic. He never took any time off, and for a long time, there were like five people in the history of the company that had never missed a show. And until late last year, he was one of the five.”

“Kenny Omega has never missed anything until late last year and it was kind of bizarre when he wasn’t there. And it’s still bizarre when he’s not around. So he’s been so dedicated. And even when he was physically beaten up, mentally, he was able to put together so many great matches during his title reign and before that, one-half of the tag team champions.”
