Tony Khan Says Lio Rush Could Be Making His Return To AEW Soon

AEW President and CEO Tony Khan recently took to his Twitter and made a huge announcement that he has seen the fans talking about Lio Rush on social media and coincidentally, he’s been talking to Rush as well about possibly making his return to AEW in the near future. Rush made his AEW debut at this past May’s Double Or Nothing PPV, when he competed in the Casino Battle Royale as the joker wild card, but unfortunately Rush suffered a shoulder injury while competing in the match.

Lio was reportedly not under contract with AEW at the time, but he did have a handshake deal with AEW President and CEO Tony Khan as he is still under contract with NJPW, though both wrestling promotions currently have an existing working relationship, which means that Lio can compete for AEW if Khan and Lio come up with some sort of a deal.

Shortly after Lio Rush’s appearance for AEW, he announced that he will be retiring from pro wrestling and the reason he gave is due to the injury he suffered at Double Or Nothing. Lio Rush also said that he did not think his injury was that bad at first, but then it began to affect his everyday life.

Ever since Rush announced his retirement from pro wrestling, he has been competing on NJPW Strong and he is even set to compete at NJPW Strong: Autumn Attack in an 8-Man Tag Team Match on the first night of the tapings, followed by a one-on-one match against Taiji Ishimori on the second night. It will be interesting to see if Lio Rush does return to AEW prior to retiring from pro wrestling.
