WWE Adds The Great American Bash To Counter AEW Fyter Fest

In a move that can only be considered WWE running scared. Out of the blue, WWE announced last night that they also will have a two week PPV style event.  The announcement about the event came late in last night’s NXT broadcast.

WWE NXT: The Great American Bash will be a two-week event starting on July 1st and July 8th, sound familiar. The Bash will run counter to AEW’s Fyter Fest.

The Bash was one of WCW’s signature events that were brought back by WWE from 2004 to 2009 and 2012. WWE owns the trademark to Great American Bash.

The irony is that the idea was brought to life by Dusty Rhodes in 1985. Rhodes headlined the first three Great American Bash events. He also worked with NXT and the WWE Performance Center before his passing in 2015. Rhodes sons Cody helped start AEW and Dustin is a big part of the promotion as well.

Following the announcement, Dusty’s daughter Teil Margaret took to social media to comment on WWE using the name.

The ratings battle is heating up. It should be interesting to see who comes out on top for both nights.
