PR: Bellator MMA Veteran Matt Makowski challenges Champion Mo Atlas on a new “UWFi Rules Contenders Series” this Wednesday Night

Former Bellator and EliteXC MMA veteran “Weapon X” Matt Makowski will make his official Paradigm Pro Wrestling debut this Wednesday, April 4th, when he challenges “The Hoodfoot” Mo Atlas for the Heavy Hitters Championship in the main event of a special ‘Mania Week Edition of the UWFi Rules Contenders Series on IndependentWrestling.TV.

Since transitioning to professional wrestling from MMA, Makowski has taken the independent wrestling scene by storm – competing on multiple editions of Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport and becoming a finalist in last year’s Pro Wrestling Illustrated Rookie of the Year awards. He garnered additional headlines on the debut episode of Season 2 of the UWFi Rules Contenders Series when “Filthy” Tom Lawlor inducted him into Team Filthy.

His opponent, The Hoodfoot (10-0 under UWFi Rules) enters the fight as the flag-bearer for Paradigm’s UWFi Rules Division and the defending Heavy Hitters Champion. The Hoodfoot has had his share of run-ins with Team Filthy over the past year – ultimately retiring Team Filthy’s Erick Stevens at the 2020 Collective, and then going on to win the 2020 Fighting Spirit Heavyweight Grand Prix by knocking-out Team Filthy member Dominic Garrini in the Finals.

Mawkoski vs Hoodfoot will headline a six fight card, airing this Wednesday at 10PM ET / 7PM PT on IWTV.

In the evening’s co-main, former Heavy Hitters Champion and 44OH member “The Bev” Bobby Beverly (3-2 under UWFi Rules) will face “The Prince of Sport” Lexus Montez (2-1 under UWFi Rules) in a #1 Contendership Fight. The two previously faced in Season 1 of the UWFi Rules Contenders Series in a fight that saw Montez gain a controversial stoppage win – a victory that Beverly fiercely protested – believing it to be an early stoppage.

The undercard will also feature several high profile bouts including a second title fight as Chase Holliday (3-0) defends the MidwestTerritory.com Championship Chain against twenty-year wrestling veteran Appollo Q. Starr (debut). Then a buzzed about contest will see Kill or Be Killed stablemates face off as AKIRA (2-1) faces Hardway Heeter (0-1).

In the evening’s final preliminary contests, deathmatch sensation Phoenix Kidd debuts against the surging Alex Kane (2-0), and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Blackbelt Dustin Leonard (0-1) returns against British chain wrestler Sidney Von Engeland (debut).
