Stardom Wrestler And Terrace House Star Hana Kimura Dies At 22

Stardom Wrestling is reporting that Hana Kimura has passed away at the age of 22. Kimura is a multiple-time titleholder with the Japan promotion.

The tweet from Stardom reads:

“Stardom fans, We are very sorry to report that our Hana Kimura has passed away. Please be respectful and allow some time for things to process, and keep your thoughts and prayers with her family and friends. We appreciate your support during this difficult time.”

Kimura has been dealing with severe depression and there was a lot of concern for her late Friday. She had posted photos of her cutting her arms and heavily implied that she was going to commit suicide.

Kimura was a member of “Terrace House: Tokyo,” a Netflix Japanese reality show. The show revolves around six young adults living together. She joined in the 20th episode and was part of the current cast before shooting halted due to the pandemic.

A recent episode aired where she lost her temper on one of her castmates and slapped him for ruining her ring gear in the wash. The castmate didn’t seem to care that her gear was important to her.

Since then, the show, which airs in Japan, portrayed her as a villain. From that she received a ton of harassment from the fans of the show. That apparently led to her depression.

The most recent update on her Instagram story on Friday featured a photo of her with her cat, with a caption that reads “goodbye.” She had also recently posted a series of troubling tweets, one of which, according to a fan translation, read that she didn’t “want to be a human anymore.”

“Thank you to everyone who supported me,” read another message, which also implied that she had been cyberbullied. “I love it. I’m weak, I’m sorry.”

This is the last tweet up on her timeline.

Kimura is the daughter of former wrestler Kyoko Kimura. She began her career in March 2016 with Wrestle-1, the promotion that trained her. She did participate in a couple of DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight title changes as a child in 2005.

She began wrestling with Stardom in 2016 as well, twice winning the Artist of Stardom Championship (one of the reigns included her mother as a partner), and also held the Goddess of Stardom Championship with Kagetsu.

Kimura also held JWP’s Princess of Pro Wrestling title, and the promotion’s Junior Heavyweight belt. This was all while she was in her early 20’s

In 2020, Kimura teamed with Giulia in a loss to Arisa Hoshiki and Mayu Iwatani in a dark match at Wrestle Kingdom 14 in the Tokyo Dome.

Her last match occurred on March 24th, in a draw with Iwatani in Stardom’s 2020 Cinderella tournament.

All Elite Wrestling addressed her passing via their social media accounts.
