Dave Meltzer reported on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there is a lot of uneasiness within the WWE NXT UK brand as of late due to two sets of NXT UK TV Tapings being canceled this past August 9th. WWE NXT UK Stars were reportedly told that the television tapings were canceled due to BT Sports Studios being used for soccer coverage, but the reactions among the NXT UK wrestlers were said to be negative as thoughts crossed their minds that they could have had the TV Tapings at a different venue and canceling tapings is never a good sign.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, WWE has been taping episodes of their WWE NXT UK brand from inside the BT Sports Studios in London, which is owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, but due to contract obligations, AEW programming isn’t allowed to be aired on the network. WWE has a clause in almost all of their television deals that says the network is not allowed to air any other wrestling show on the same channel and it was even stated by one person who is in charge of the WWE’s television deals that the company insists on this clause in their contracts.
