Stone Cold Turns Down WWE’s Offer To Compete At WrestleMania

WWE will be holding their WrestleMania 39 Premium Live Event on Saturday, April 1 and Sunday, April 2 from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California and the company is looking to stack their card and make it the biggest WrestleMania of all time based on recent reports of who the promotion wants to bring back and the matches they want to have.

Fightful Select previously reported that a pitch was made to WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold about a big money matchup against Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39 and The Texas Rattlesnake was even offered an “enormous” amount of money to do the match. Dave Meltzer then said on a previous edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that the matchup that was actually pitched for Stone Cold was not against Roman Reigns, but Brock Lesnar, though from everything that transpired on RAW this past Monday night, it looks like that match will no longer take place.

Dave Meltzer noted on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin may still make an appearance at WrestleMania 39, but as far as a match goes he turned down WWE’s offer to compete, regardless of who his opponent may be and even though he could be given the opportunity to choose his own opponent.

This is what Dave Meltzer said:

“As far as Austin goes, Steve might be at the show. I mean, I wouldn’t be surprised at all. He might do something on the show but he did in fact turn down wrestling at the show. He was offered [Brock] Lesnar, he was offered Roman Reigns. He probably could have named his opponent if he wanted to do it with anybody else but he did not choose to wrestle on the show.”
