WWE Bringing In A Former Superstar For Superstar Spectacle

WWE is set to make their return to India later on tonight, September 8th from inside the GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium (Gachibowli Indoor Stadium) in Hyderabad, India for a special event known as Superstar Spectacle, which is the company’s first live event in India since 2017. It would be revealed that the show will feature an appearance by 16-time World Champion John Cena, who will appear in India for the very first time and compete in a Tag Team Match, when he teams up with reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins to face Imperium’s Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci.

The company recently announced that tonight’s WWE Superstar Spectacle will also feature an appearance from a former WWE Star and World Champion. According to PWInsider.com, former WWE Superstar The Great Khali is expected to appear on the huge show and be involved in some fashion, but there’s no word yet on what exactly his role is.

Great Khali was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2021 after leaving the company in November 2014 and making a name for himself and having a significant amount of success, including winning the World Heavyweight Title. Khali, who hasn’t competed in the WWE since the 50-Man Greatest Royal Rumble Match in April 2018 from Saudi Arabia, is one of the company’s biggest Indian-born Superstars, which is one of the reasons why he is being brought in for Superstar Spectacle.

The 2023 WWE Superstar Spectacle Event will only be aired in India via Sony Six and not on Peacock or the WWE Network and this show will only have a setup of 3500-4000 fans in attendance as this event is not about drawing a big crowd, but about the WWE’s business partners bringing the promotion in India. India is reportedly the WWE’s second biggest television revenue stream ever, behind the United States and the country even makes more money on television than Canada and the U.K.

Other matchups already announced for the show includes Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn taking on Indus Sher (Sanga and Veer Mahaan) in Tag Team action and WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley of The Judgment Day defending her WWE Women’s World Title against WWE veteran Natalya.
