WWE Got Paid A Huge Amount Of Money By Mountain Dew For Pitch Black Match

Top WWE Star Bray Wyatt and LA Knight battled each other in a Mountain Dew Pitch Black Matchup at the 2023 WWE Royal Rumble Premium Live Event last January 28th. The WWE Universe and fellow WWE Stars had no idea what the matchup would look like and what the match rules would be. Bray and Knight would end up facing each other under Street Fight/No Holds Barred rules and the match would end up taking place under black light, with a giant Mountain Dew logo on the canvas.

Dave Meltzer noted on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that Mountain Dew paid WWE $1 Million for the Pitch Black Match and even though it was a crappy and a short match, WWE still got a significant amount of money and a massive deal.

This is what Dave Meltzer said:

“Well, you know the thing is that Mountain Dew one, that was a million-dollar deal. That’s significant money if you can get deals like that. It was a really crappy match though and they kept it short. I guess Pepsi has to decide whether it’s worth it to spend a million dollars to sponsor a crappy match, maybe it is. I don’t know, on a pay-per-view that was seen by two million people.”
