On Wednesday, fans of AEW Dynamite have an AEW Worlds Women’s championship to enjoy. Hikaru Shida will be defending her title against the fastest rising star in professional wrestling, Anna Jay. Anna is a member of the dark order and we tip her to be a future star in the women’s division.
Anna Jay Really Is A Newcomer
We have noticed that she does at times look a little rusty in the ring but when you find out she has only been in the industry for one year I think we can all agree that this is understandable.
It all started with a debut she would rather forget as her match with Shalandra Royal ended in a DQ. Since this shaky start, she has grown in confidence in the ring and is now going to have the entire wrestling world’s eyes on her to see if she can take away the title on AEW dynamite.
It might surprise you to know that she has actually only recorded 13 more matches, most of them taking place in AEW. She apparently has put hours upon hours of hard work in at QT marshalls wrestling school, otherwise known as ‘The Nightmare Factory’. Where she trains.
She is very comfortable with the microphone with most people saying that this is her biggest asset and has guided her in achieving a title shot. The question that everyone will be asking though, is this enough to make her grab her first piece of silverware.
An Opportunity To Put Her First Match With Shida Behind Her
We ourselves were surprised to find out how inexperienced Anna Jay actually is but simultaneously heartened by what people can achieve in the industry with good application.
This got us thinking about when she made her debut. She first appeared on our screens on the 1st of April on an episode of AEW Dynamite. She had a match against Hikaru Shida for the duration of around 5 minutes. Shida on this occasion beat Jay without much fuss and the match itself is not worth revisiting but everyone was naturally intrigued about who the new girl on the block was.
She originally made her debut under the gimmick ‘The star of the show’. Jay of course now is part of the dark order and that part of her character is only remembered by a few.
Will Anna Jay Win?
Arguably Anna Jay being in this position already represents a rapid rise through the ranks but if she wins the title this will take the meaning of that phrase to a whole new level. We personally don’t expect her to win this match but will watch with intrigue to see how she performs, and if an upset is on the cards I guess the whole world will know who Anna Jay is then.
