Cody Says It Will Be Heel Turn If He Fought For World Title

At the 2019 Full Gear PPV Event, “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes took on Chris Jericho in a one-on-one match wherein if he lost, he will never be able to challenge for the AEW World Title again.

He lost against Jericho in that match after MJF screwed Rhodes when he threw in the towel on his behalf, which kicked off their heated feud. Since then, Cody Rhodes has kept his promise of never challenging for the AEW World Title and he doesn’t plan on doing so anytime soon or in the future.

However, when Cody Rhodes appeared as a guest on WFAN Sports Radio, he said that he is going to stick to his word on the AEW Title, but ultimately, that decision will rest on AEW owner Tony Khan. He also said it is the easiest heel turn in wrestling if he was to break it, but The American Nightmare loves that they are disciplined and conservative and presenting wrestling backwards.

This is what Cody Rhodes said:

“I’m going to stick to my word on the AEW Title, but ultimately, that decision will rest on AEW owner Tony Khan. It’s the easiest heel turn in wrestling if I was to break it. I love that we’re disciplined and conservative, and presenting wrestling backwards.”

Cody Rhodes is set to team up with Red Velvet to face NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal and Jade Cargill on Dynamite later on tonight.
