As previously reported, this past Saturday night’s episode of AEW Dynamite saw NWA Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa make an appearance and challenge AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida for her AEW Women’s World Title at AEW’s All Out PPV Event on September 5th.
AEW and the NWA reportedly has no business relationship at the moment and it is unclear if Thunder Rosa’s appearance on this past Saturday’s AEW Dynamite was a one-off or a start of an impending business relationship. Dave Meltzer mentioned on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that AEW President and CEO Tony Khan reached out to Billy Corgan, President of the NWA, and an agreement was reached.
Dave Meltzer said,
“Tony Khan had the idea of Shida vs Thunder Rosa for whatever reason and he talked to Billy Corgan, and Billy Corgan was fine with it. That’s probably why they acknowledged that she’s the NWA Women’s World Champion.”
