The main event of this past Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite saw The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, Sammy Guevara, Santana, and Ortiz) take on The Pinnacle (MJF, FTR, Wardlow and Shawn Spears) in a Blood And Guts Match. The show has been advertised for weeks as a one-match show but turns out the first hour of the Blood And Guts Dynamite episode was taped a number of weeks ago, which the fans had no idea of.
Fans who were in attendance for the Blood And Guts Dynamite reportedly watched the full first hour on the big screen, while the full second hour, which was the entire Blood And Guts Match, was live. Dave Meltzer noted on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that the first hour of this Dynamite episode was interesting because it was all taped with no fans a couple of weeks ago, but the cages were set up in a way to pretend it was live so they actually set up the two rings when they did the taping.
This is what Dave Meltzer said:
“The first hour of this show was interesting because it was all taped with no fans a couple of weeks ago, the whole first hour. Because of the cages, they did it to pretend it was live so they actually set up the two rings when they did the taping.”
Meltzer also noted that when the show started, AEW President and CEO Tony Khan revealed the situation to the fans that the entire first hour of the show is taped and that they are going to play it on the big screens, however, the fans’ crowd noise is going to be the crowd noise in the match, so cheer and boo like they would.
This is what Dave Meltzer said:
“When the show started, Tony Khan went on before the cameras were on and said, ‘Okay, this is the situation, the first hour of this show is taped, we’re gonna be playing it on the screens. However, your crowd noise is going to be the crowd noise in this match, so cheer and boo like you would.’”
Meltzer then added that Tony Khan told the crowd if for some reason they didn’t hear this or they are unhappy, then they can get a refund, which five fans got. Blood And Guts was held in front of a total of 1,500 fans.
