News On Roman Reigns And Kevin Owens, WWE’s Future Plans For Owens

The main event of Saturday night’s WWE Survivor Series: WarGames Premium Live Event saw The Bloodline (Undisputed WWE Universal Champion “The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns, Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions The Usos, Sami Zayn and Solo Sikoa) defeat Team Brawling Brutes (Sheamus, Ridge Holland, Butch, Kevin Owens and Drew McIntyre) in a Men’s WarGames Match.

It was previously reported that The Head Of The Table was “visibly upset” after the main event due to an “unplanned spot” with Kevin Owens and Reigns took issue with that. It was also reported that Owens won’t be receiving any backstage heat and the unplanned spot just happened in the heat of the moment, but that is only the perception of an unnamed WWE source.

There was reportedly no backstage physical altercation between Owens and Reigns and the WWE wrestlers that spoke to Fightful even mentioned that both stars can coexist and work together, but Roman Reigns did make it perfectly clear when he got backstage that he possibly had a ruptured eardrum and he also wanted the spot to happen how it was originally planned. Roman also made it clear to everyone that he was not happy and some expletives words were even used. As previously reported, there are major plans for Owens and Reigns for the 2023 WWE Royal Rumble Premium Live Event and their recent incident won’t affect those plans.

Dave Meltzer noted on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that despite the spot, WWE is still going forward with their plans for Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn and even though Roman got a bruise under his left eye and ruptured an eardrum, Roman Reigns is still going to work with Owens and nothing is going to happen in the sense that management will bury Kevin Owens.

This is what Dave Meltzer said:

“During the match, there was a slap that Kevin Owens gave Roman Reigns. Roman Reigns had a bruise under his left eye, and he may have ruptured an eardrum. There was definitely an eardrum injury….S**t happens in pro wrestling. Roman Reigns after was very upset and was very vehement about it and was yelling about it. What I do know at this point and probably going forward, everything that has been planned for Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn is going on exactly as planned. It’s not like ‘I’m not gonna work with him,’ or ‘Management will bury him.’ None of that’s happening. Kevin Owens beat Jey Uso tonight. Whatever the plans are, barring an injury or a change…everything is going as it is planned to go.”
