WWE is set to hold their 2023 WWE Royal Rumble Event on Saturday, January 28, 2023 from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas and even though there’s still a little over a month to go before the event will be taking place, the show has already amassed a gross gate exceeding $4.6 million as noted by WWE co-CEO Nick Khan during the recent third quarter earnings call. There is also genuine excitement for the show and a lot of buzz going around as this will be the first Royal Rumble under the Triple H regime.
The company has already begun building up the top matches of their 2023 WWE Royal Rumble Premium Live Event and these matches have already been set internally, but due to a number of reasons, the matches can only be officially announced after the December 30 episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown. Some of the matches that have already been set include an Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Match between Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens, a WWE SmackDown Women’s Title Matchup between WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey and Raquel Rodriguez, a Men’s Royal Rumble Match, a Women’s Royal Rumble Match, a Pitch Black Match and a match between Edge and “Demon” Finn Balor.
As previously reported, no details were given as to what the Pitch Black Match is all about, but it’s believed that this match is made for Bray Wyatt and as it relates to the matchup between “Demon” Finn Balor and WWE Hall of Famer Edge, WrestlingNews.co was told by a source that the match will be a Hell in a Cell Match.
