Jericho Says NXT Is The Minor League, AEW Kept From RAW & SD

AEW World Champion Chris Jericho was recently a guest on Grado’s brand-new Wrestling Daft podcast where he was asked about the Wednesday Night Wars between All Elite Wrestling and NXT. According to Jericho, it is not a competition to them and he already knew that they would come out on top because they have more star power.

This is what Chris Jericho said:

“NXT is still the minor league.” “Those guys are still unknown performers, it’s not a competition to us and I knew we’d win because we have more star power. When you look at the end of our first week of TV who was out there at the end? Chris Jericho – we know him! Dustin Rhodes – we know him! Jon Moxley – we know him, he used to be another name and but we know who that is. Jim Ross is commentating – I know that guy!”

Jericho then talked about Vince McMahon choosing to put NXT as AEW’s competition instead of Monday Night RAW or Friday Night SmackDown. Jericho said that it was a stroke of genius in Vince McMahon’s part. Jericho also said that AEW’s competition is RAW and SmackDown and guys like Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and WWE Champion Brock Lesnar.

This is what Chris Jericho said:

“Our competition is RAW, is SmackDown, is Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar, and all those guys!.” “I think it was a stroke of genius by Vince McMahon to put NXT on against up because it took the focus off ‘the main show and AEW’ and put it on ‘the minor league and AEW.'”

It is interesting that Chris Jericho also referred to NXT as the minor leagues because Seth Rollins recently said the same thing about AEW. At a Fandemic convention in Houston, Rollins was asked about potentially competing against Kenny Omega in a match to prove who is the best, but Rollins said that when Kenny is done working for the minor leagues then he can come and work for the absolute top professional wrestling company in the world.

This is what Seth Rollins said:

“When Kenny’s done playing in the minor leagues over there [AEW].” “Then he can come and work at the absolute top professional wrestling company in the world, in front of the most people, and make the most money, and have the biggest matches, which is with me at WrestleMania.”
